Professional Contributions

Celina is currently a Master’s Candidate in Art Therapy and Counseling at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Celina is learning about which theoretical approaches she will be grounding her work as a future art therapist, however, she feels drawn to incorporating a feminist, relational-cultural, person-centered, and studio model approaches. Celina has a background in case management and community-driven art projects which influence her understanding of what art therapy is and can be.

Celina believes in fostering a space where both the client and therapist can learn from each other and collaborate on art projects, or work alongside one another as they create art. She believes that there is healing in knowing that one is a part of a community that supports each other’s creativity.

Celina is fluently bilingual in English and Spanish. Currently, Celina has been focusing on collages, watercolor sketches, and textile work. In the past, she has worked with 2D and 3D materials such as acrylic painting, drawing, pastels, ceramics, and sculptural work.
